(Tear Trough performed by Dr Nick Milojevic)
Every issue we check out the latest procedures and treatment on the market...
If you always look tired even after you've had a good night's sleep it can be disheartening and begin to look very ageing. This was what prompted Jen Dutton to have a revolutionary new procedure to deal with tear troughs under her eyes.
Why you were unhappy with your eyes?
Over the past couple of years, I started to become more aware of what I thought were ‘bags' under my eyes. I always looked tired even if I'd had a good night's sleep. Thankfully, I do not suffer from dark circles, just this hollow look under my eyes. I was spending a fortune on eye creams but they just weren't working and it was really starting to get me down. I began to think that surgery was my only option so I checked up on the internet and came across Glancey Medical.
What was their opinion at the consultation?
Dr Lucy Glancey saw me personally & said that I didn't have ‘bags' under my eyes and therefore invasive surgery wasn't necessary, which was a great relief.
She said I actually had the opposite problem because I had no excess skin just hollows where you lose weight around the eye area as you age. I'm sure the past couple of years of partying hadn't helped.
She said that a new ‘tear trough' procedure would resolve the problem. She explained that they injected Restylane below the eye area to ‘even out' the hollows. The whole thing would only take around half an hour. I must admit my heartrate increased somewhat at the word ‘injections' as needles terrify me and I would be awake throughout the whole procedure.
I asked how long it would last and Dr Glancey explained that it would last anywhere between nine and twelve months and then you can return for top ups.
What happened when you got there?
There was quite a lot of form filling as you would expect. Susan, the lovely assistant, put me at ease straightaway, as she had just had the procedure and was really pleased with the results. She said it wouldn't hurt, only feel slightly uncomfortable and that I would be able to go back to work afterwards.
How long did it take?
One of the advantages of the tear trough procedure is that it is not performed under a general anaesthetic. The anaesthetic cream was applied first and I waiting about 25 minutes for it to take effect. The whole procedure took around an hour in all.
How many injections did you have?
Dr Glancey injected the filler several times around the eye socket area. Then she would smooth the filler with her finger after each injection. I did not need any medication once it had been done. Susan, the assistant, applied a ‘tinted' cream on the area to help with the slight redness and swelling. Despite this I could instantly see a difference.
What were the immediate results?
I had the treatment on a Thursday and by Saturday it had bruised slightly and was a bit sore. Bruising is always worse on the second or third day so I was expecting it and applied arnica cream to help speed up the healing process. After a week the swelling was gone and after a month the hollows had virtually disappeared.
Are you happy with the treatment?
Extremely! Everyone could see the difference. The whole experience was great and I would highly recommend it to anyone else. I will definitely be getting it done again if I need it. Now I can party like a twenty year old without worrying about looking exhausted the next morning. CSMUK
