If you’re intimidated by going under the knife then it pays to check out the dramatic effects that deep peels can have on the appearance of the skin
Facelifts are one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery, topped
only by breast augmentation and eyelid surgery. Traditional surgery is designed to remove excess tissue but it does little to improve the quality, texture, colour and elasticity of the skin and it is these factors which often give away our age.
A chemical peel is a process whereby the surface of the skin is wounded by a chemical agent with the goal of removing a controlled thickness of damaged skin. After the treated skin regenerates, there is a decrease
in fine wrinkling, a more even skin tone and an improvement in skin quality.
It can often be confusing which one to go for as there is a wide variety on the market and the depth of a chemical peel varies with the chemical used as well as its strength. One of the deepest peels available is the
phenol peel and a phenol peel which is offering outstanding results is the Moulding Mask vailable at Rubicon Medical.
The concept is simple. A surgeon applies the formula to a patient’s face, gradually building up a carefully contoured mask with layers of silk strips. Once he mask is applied, the patient then rests for 32–38 hours while it works its magic.
After the mask is removed, the patient’s face is cleansed and treated with an antiseptic powder and cream. This task is repeated over the next few days, during which time the patient can either go home or stay at the clinic depending on their preference.
After seven days of cleansing and treating with antiseptic,
the patient moves on to having liquid paraffin applied six times per day until the mask naturally comes off. This generally happens by day ten, revealing your new, younger-looking self.
After the treatment, the patient’s face and skin will look rejuvenated. Bruising and swelling are minimal, and redness subsides rapidly after
proper application of the aftercare products which include sun block.
A skin peel of this depth can offer a number of benefits: there’s no incision or cutting of the skin, meaning that you don’t need general anaesthetic, and there’s minimal pain, just a little discomfort.
