Having suffered from severe gum disease for many years and despite regular trips to her dentist in the UK, Emily Mayer, 46, was gradually losing all her teeth and with them her confidence
A successful artist from Kenninghall in Norfolk, Emily Mayer was facing up to a life of dentures or somehow raising enough money for an expensive implant procedure that would restore her mouth to full function.
In the UK implants can cost up to and over £2000 each and Emily would need at least 17 implants plus the crowns on top. The solution came when she found Smile Savers Hungary on the internet, a UK based company offering the full range of modern, high quality dentistry in Budapest for about a third of the price charged in the UK.
Ideally situated right in the centre of Europe and with a long history of treating foreign patients, Hungary is also regarded by many as being the centre of excellence for dentistry. Using Smile Saver's complimentary service Emily was able to easily check the dentist's qualifications and experience thoroughly, talk to previous patients about their experiences and look over relevant case studies.
Fully satisfied with what she saw, Emily took the two hour flight to Budapest for an initial consultation. Smile Saver's clinic is the largest in Budapest with nine dental chairs and some 46 staff. Amongst them is Hollywood smile cosmetic specialist Dr Zsuzsanna Juhasz, and the head of the clinic, Dr Atilla Kaman, maxillofacial surgeon and Master of Implantology, possibly the most experienced in his field having placed an amazing 10,000 implants in the last seven years.
Dr Kaman says: "Although Emily's condition is not common, we have treated many cases like hers. We have the technology, the time and importantly the team here to successfully treat such cases."
Over the next six months with just three trips to Budapest, Emily had a total of 17 Branemark implants fitted with additional bone augmentation where bone had deteriorated, plus 24 ceramic fused to gold crowns crafted by the clinic's expert, on-site technicians.
Emily says: "I was so conscious of the state of my teeth. Having this treatment has changed my life. Not only did the clinic take really good care of me, but I have also saved a huge amount of money."
In all, the treatment, even with flights and accommodation factored in, saved Emily an estimated £40,000.
