Airgent is an innovative new procedure that promises to provide a valuable tool in rejuvenating the skin
For the needle-phobic or for those who don't want the frozen look associated with Botox, there is now an alternative. Airgent is a groundbreaking new procedure that can target frown lines, wrinkles, acne scarring and stretch marks - without injections, loss of facial expression or the downtime associated with painful laser procedures and chemical peels.
Airgent already has an established A-list demand in the USA, Canada and Europe - as celebs have long been searching for an anti-ageing alternative treatment to Botox, which doesn't freeze their facial muscles. Dr Hugo Kitchen of the Stratford Dermatherapy Clinic is the first practitioner in the UK to offer this breakthrough treatment and has already seen some amazing results. "This is the system we've been searching for; it is fast, easy to use, delivers HA direct to the dermis, results in younger, plumped up skin - and, best of all, it results in happy patients."
The Airgent system is designed to restore skin volume to even the most delicate areas, while improving texture, scar tissue and concealing protruding veins. The Airgent treatment can also be performed with spectacular results on the hands, palms, neck and décolleté areas which we often neglect, but frequently reveal the tell tale signs of ageing.
The science
Airgent's patented BiAction technology safely introduces hyaluronic acid molecules into the dermis via tiny entry points in a simple, clinic procedure that takes just minutes and leaves the surrounding skin tissue intact.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring, biodegradable bodily substance, which lubricates our eyeballs and the cartilages in all our joints to keep them continuously moist. Frequently used in injectable dermal fillers and by prestige skincare brands as a skin enhancing agent, this super-humectant molecule absorbs and retains 1000% its weight in water.
When introduced into the dermis, it instantly increases the volume of the skin; smoothing lines, wrinkles and scars on the skin surface and generating an immediately visible, younger appearance.
How does it work?
Airgent's precise pneumatic technology accelerates these hyaluronic acid particles, which act as ‘nano-bullets', penetrating the skin and spreading laterally within the dermis layer to establish a uniform coverage of the treated area.
The result is an even and immediate skin rejuvenating treatment - an effect which is more difficult to achieve with injectable methods on fragile or larger areas of skin, e.g. around the eyes, lips, cheeks, neck, hands and chest.
Pain-wise the treatment delivers a mild and short-lived stinging sensation, as Dr Hugo Kitchen explains: "Like being flicked with an elastic band."
The results
As the hyaluronic acid particles pass through the dermis, they collide with and cause mechanical stress to the fibroblasts, which respond by producing more collagen. The micro-trauma to the skin's inner layers triggers a natural and intensive wound-healing process, vitally regenerating collagen production and inhibiting collagen breakdown.
The long-term cellular renewal and rejuvenation process begins as new collagen and elastin fibres form, creating new, tighter tissue to replace skin imperfections - improving the skin's texture for many years to come.
Therefore, five to six months later, when the temporary ‘plumping' effect of the hyaluronic acid particles subsides (naturally biodegrading, as part of the body's normal functioning), the dermis healing phases have set in motion the long-term collagen remodelling effect, resulting in radiant, youthful skin.
Dr Hugo Kitchen concludes: "Beauty really is ‘skin deep' and this dermal drenching with highly water-absorbing hyaluronic acid, makes HA the real ‘super-molecular' buzzword."
