Are you ready for your Little Black Dress? RSS Feeds

Created on 10th September 2009

The party season is almost upon us and that sexy little black dress might just be highlighting a wrinkled décolletage. Restylane Vital Light could be the answer to a smoother look to what is often a problem area for a lot of women as they age. Registered nurse Marie Duckett of Fiona and Marie Aesthetics Limited explains more

With growing awareness of premature ageing skin caused by sun damage, we lavish care on our faces all year around, taking care particularly in the summer to increase sun protection against its harmful rays. But more often than not, we tend to overlook our décolletage.

At the end of the summer, particularly if you have holidayed in the sun, you can find that your décolletage looks de-hydrated and has lost its firm appearance. To add insult to injury crinkly little lines have appeared from nowhere. Your face may radiate a youthful glow and good skin tone, but your décolletage gives the game away.

We need to address this with a three pronged approach.

Firstly, think PROTECT
Apply a good sun screen regularly. Usually you need to re-apply sun screen every two hours when outside. Consider products that enhance your own natural protection, such as C+E Ferulic from Skinceuticals. This product enhances your own natural protection against the suns harmful rays by up to eight times.

Secondly, think TREAT
Restylane Vital Light is a safe and effective treatment solution to counter the effects of sun damage by boosting the skin's natural hydration at a level in the dermis where it is needed.  After a course of Restylane Vital Light treatments, the skin feels smoother and looks more hydrated.

Restylane Vital Light is a new skin revitalisation treatment, providing deep dermal hydration and moisturising from within to improve skin tone and health. Restylane Vital Light is especially formulated for sensitive skin areas, such as the décolletage. It stimulates the production of collagen and elastin to keep our skin looking plump and hydrated and so diminishes the appearance of fine crêpey lines caused by sun damage.

It is a smooth, pure crystal clear hyaluronic acid (HA) gel which is injected into the skin to replenish the skin's own HA which attracts water in the skin and plays an important part in the skin's hydration system.

The Restylane Vital Light programme comprises of three initial treatment sessions spaced three weeks apart. The treatment comprises a series of very fine micro-injections with the new pen type Restylane injector.

Because Restylane Vital Light releases hyaluronic acid gradually over a period of time, the benefits of this treatment generally last for several months and can be maintained by repeat treatment once or twice a year. But typically if your skin is good in condition and you protect your skin from the sun, you will be able to maintain the revitalised appearance of your skin with an annual maintenance treatment.

Older and more sun-damaged skins will need more than three initial treatments. Restylane Vital Light can also be used on the backs of hands, another area which can reveal the signs of ageing.

You can also repeat treatment with Restylane Vital Light as often as you feel is necessary - you may wish to have a booster treatment when you need to look your best for a special occasion.

Thirdly, think DAILY ROUTINE
Think of your face as extending from your hairline to nipple line. If appropriate, apply your facial moisturisers to the décolletage also. There are also some good products that can be applied to help treat and maintain this area. Derma Lac and EssentiA Oil from Environ, used in combination will help to hydrate and smooth your décolletage.
