After a bully taunted her profile on social networking site Facebook, Lowri Ryland sought rhinoplasty surgery

What prompted you to have the treatment?

I'd always hated my nose. It was too big, a bit off-centre and had a big bump on it. I had saved up to have a breast enlargement but then a girl posted a horrid message on Facebook in response to my photographs on my profile. 

I was so upset by the message. I kept thinking people were talking about me and it really knocked my confidence. So I decided to have a nose job instead of a boob job.

Who carried out the procedure and what was their opinion at the consultation?

I saw Mr Michael Payne at The Hospital Group. I told him what I was unhappy with and he discussed what he could do for me and all the implications of the surgery. He was very confident that he could achieve what I wanted.

How was the experience?

I was very nervous as I've never been in hospital before let alone had an operation but the surgeon and the anaesthetist really put me at my ease.

What were the immediate results?

There was no pain which I was really surprised about but there was a lot of bruising and swelling and I couldn't open my eyes at first because of the amount of swelling. However, it came down very quickly and was almost all back to normal by the time the bandages came off after the first week.

I still had a bump on my nose when the bandages first came off so I wasn't very happy but they told me to be patient and within a couple of weeks the bump had disappeared.

Are you happy with the treatment?

A few weeks after my surgery had healed I bumped into the Facebook bully on a night out. She apologised and said she didn't think I would take it that far - but I'm glad she made those comments online.

If she hadn't written that message maybe I'd have never got it done and I'm so pleased I did. I'm much more confident now and happier in my own skin. I even made the final of a beauty contest recently.

I would definitely have cosmetic surgery in the future if there was something I wasn't happy with because the rhinoplasty showed me how easy it is.
