Cosmetic Surgery & Aesthetics Magazine investigates the Strawberry from Laser Lipo, a new multi-functional laser treatment

Laser technology has made great advances in recent years and new laser treatment the Strawberry claims to not only be an effective fat reduction treatment but also deal with other problems, from reducing the appearance of stretch marks to even giving up smoking.

How it works

The laser penetrates the skin and when the beams make contact with the adipocytes (fat cells) they create a rapid chain of events. Firstly, pores form on the cells causing them to spill out. The water, glycerol and free fatty acids move into the interstitial space beneath the fatty layer in the skin. The fat cells then reduce in size. This disruption does not affect the neighbouring structures such as skin, blood vessels or nerves.

The lymphatic system then removes the fat cells through the venous system where they are processed in the same way as fatty foods that are digested.

Stretch mark treatment

It is estimated that 90 per cent of women who have children, 70 per cent of adolescent girls and 40 per cent of adolescent boys suffer stretch marks. They are caused by tissue tearing under the skin and while no treatment can guarantee 100 per cent removal, the Strawberry achieves outstanding results reducing unsightly red and silver coloured marks by up to 70 per cent.

As the lasers penetrate the skin they encourage new growth and create collagen, increasing the elasticity in the treated area. Laser Lipo has combined the use of three different low level laser heads and created a painless and non-invasive procedure to reduce these unwanted marks.

Eye bag treatment

Laser Lipo has created a protocol using two different laser heads designed specifically to stimulate new cell growth and reduce tired-looking dark areas and bags under the eyes. Using the same Laser Lipo technology that reduces fat, these new low level laser treatments tighten the skin with stunning results. The lasers stimulate collagen re-growth, reduce fat and tighten the skin under the eyes.

Smoking cessation

The machine even has an application to help smokers give up the habit. Clinical trials at Middlesex University have proved that over 75 per cent of people treated with low level laser treatments manage to give up, as long as they have made the mental decision to quit. The nearest rival is miles behind - with a mere 20 per cent success rate for Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).

The laser is placed on traditional acupuncture sites on the face, hand and ear. When the laser is placed on these spots the cells in the brain that are normally filled with nicotine are naturally replaced with endorphins. Instead of cravings the patient enjoys a reassuring feeling of calm and serenity.
