With an array of new skin revitalisation treatments now available, Ann Malone from the Rejuvenation Clinic in Sale, tells us why Restylane Vital Light is her choice
Anti-ageing is not just about managing lines and wrinkles but good skin quality and skin appearance is of particular importance for my patients.
Everyone I see desires good skin condition and a healthy skin glow. Whilst many skin cream products make attractive promises, I think we are deluding ourselves if we believe that any long-term benefit can be achieved by creams alone. We need a little more help!
Derived from pure hyaluronic acid, Restylane Vital Light is a new skin boosting treatment from the Restylane family. Unlike its sister products, Restylane Vital
Light is not a filler. I describe it as a skin nutrition treatment which helps the production of healthy looking skin and improves elasticity. This in turn improves smoothness and tone which boosts the skin's light reflecting qualities and makes it glow.
It is the perfect treatment for those occasions when your need your skin to look its best. I see many brides and mothers of the brides who want to look good for the big day but the bonus is that the treatment benefits last long after the wedding day - for around nine months.
I have used Restylane Vital Light very successfully over the past year to treat those tricky skin areas such as the neck, décolletage and around the eyes and mouth.
Whilst you can use moisturising creams to rehydrate your skin and make it feel smoother, any effects will be temporary because creams sit on the surface of the skin and cannot penetrate it to reach the deeper levels where hydration occurs. Restylane Vital Light, however, boosts the skin's natural hydration at a level in the dermis where it is needed. So after a course of three treatments the skin loses its dry, crêpey look and is more hydrated. Your skin looks radiant.
The key thing to bear in mind when planning your treatment schedule is that, unlike the Restylane dermal filler range, you do not see results instantly and the results are subtle; your skin will feel firmer and smoother, any fine lines will be softened.
For most of my patients I recommend a course of three Restylane Vital Light treatment sessions, three to four weeks apart. This way we can be sure of achieving optimum results which are easy to maintain with a top up one or twice a year.
FACE
Restylane Vital Light comes into its own as a skin boosting treatment on the sensitive areas of the face - the crows feet, upper cheek area and lower face.
I find it particularly effective in treating the area above the top lip, which is prone to fine lines as the skin loses its elasticity.
Another problem area is the chin where loss of firmness makes the skin look crêpey. Restylane Vital Light is very effective in these areas because it improves elasticity which makes skin smoother and more toned.
DÉCOLLETAGE
With growing awareness of premature ageing caused by sun damage, we lavish care on our faces all year around, but we tend to overlook our décolletage, which is a big giveaway of ageing. Restylane Vital Light is a fantastic way to subtly rejuvenate the décolletage.
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied to numb the area first. The treatment is reasonably quick and comprises a number of micro injections criss crossing
the décolletage. Immediately afterwards the area does look a little red - this soon settles down, but it is probably best to factor in a little downtime such as an evening in or a low key day following your treatment.
To sustain the improvement I recommend a top up treatment at around six months.
HANDS
Hands often give our age away but with Restylane Vital Light, tiny dermal reservoirs of hydration are created under the skin which really boosts hydration so the backs of the hands look and feel hydratedand smooth. This is a great treatment if you have veiny hands - the plumping effect of Restylane Vital Light means that prominent veins disappear.
Case Study
Name: Diane Chambers
Age: 54
Occupation: Business Administrator
What prompted you to have the treatment?
I was going to a friend's wedding. I had noticed fine lines and a slight crêpeyness to the skin on my cheeks. It did not look good and I did not want it to show on photographs!
Who carried out the procedure and what was their opinion at the consultation?
I had a consultation with Ann Malone at The Rejuvenation Clinic. Ann recommended a course of Restylane Vital Light. My skin condition and tone was poor because my skin was losing its elasticity and it also needed rehydrating.
How was the experience?
A topical anaesthetic cream was applied to my face before the procedure, so I only felt a slight sting as I was given the injections.
What were the immediate results?
I have very sensitive skin so the area looked a bit red and slightly blotchy but this had settled by the next day. I had three sessions of the treatment three weeks apart and after the second session I noticed my skin looked less crêpey and felt smoother and more toned. Three sessions were enough to achieve the result I wanted.
Are you happy with the results?
Absolutely. I will definitely continue with my treatments and would recommend it as it improves my skin in a way that no cream or beauty product can do. All my friends say I look really well which is exactly the kind of reaction I wanted!
