CosmeticSurgeryToday.co.uk investigates a skin-needling treatment, that could be the genuine article
While Botox can smooth your crow's feet and dermal fillers can plump up lips or lines, it is often hard to find an effective treatment that also improves the condition of our skin - and unfortunately skin tone and texture can be just as much a giveaway of our age as those wretched wrinkles.
One treatment that can tackle a whole host of problems such as acne scars, aged and sun damaged skin, facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles and stretch marks is Genuine Dermaroller Therapy.
Genuine Dermaroller is an advanced micro-medical skinneedling system that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin. The treatment is only available from trained medical practitioners and authorised clinics as the device is used to produce thousands of micro-medical needle-columns in the skin.
Each column will penetrate into the dermis and will be approximately 0.1mm in width. The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly, often in the same day. A topical anaesthetic is used to numb the skin, making the procedure comfortable. The anaesthetic usually takes about 30 minutes to take effect and then the procedure lasts approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
Christine Fittus of The Linea Clinic in Malvern has just introduced Genuine Dermaroller Therapy and has found it to be an effective, less invasive treatment, which goes down well with her patients. "After the procedure your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This natural healing is what appeals to our clients."
New collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and the blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to six weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing a natural, long-lasting enhancement. A series of two to three treatments is usually recommended with approximately six weeks between them. However in the case of acne scarring and stretch marks it may be necessary to extend the treatment course.
"We are achieving fabulous results on all ages and skin types," says Christine, "and as this treatment appeals to clients who prefer a natural approach we feel it could possibly take over from some of our laser and IPL treatments."
