Dr Roger Amar, of the Amar Clinic in Marbella, talks us through all the procedures he offers to ensure you look gorgeous from head to toe

I have most often appeared on this website to discuss the FAMI procedure – a technique I pioneered and which has proved popular beyond all my expectations, which uses a patient’s own stem cells to plump and rejuvenate the face.

FAMI will always hold a special place in my heart, however, having been practising medicine since 1970 and specialising in plastic surgery since 1976, I perform a number of other surgical and non-surgical procedures, which enables me to offer my patients treatments to deal with problems on any part of the face or body.

Facial wrinkles

For fine wrinkles and expression lines, botulinum toxin, chemical peels or mesotherapy should do the trick. For deeper lines, such as nose-tomouth lines, or for volumisation I offer injectable facial fillers.

Droopy eyelids or eye bags

Excess skin around the eyes can cause us to look tired and, in some extreme cases, even interfere with vision.

At the Amar Clinic we offer both upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty, in which excess fat and skin are removed, as well as transconjunctival blepharoplasty, which removes excess fat without tightening the skin. This is generally recommended for patients who have fat bags under the eyes but do not have excess skin.

Large or misshapen nose

I created a technique called Transpalpebral Osteotomy, which is rhinoplasty through the eyelid. The objective of this technique is to obtain the best possible result, smoothing out the expression of the face, to avoid haematomas and pain, and to shorten the post-operative period and possible problems and discomfort.

Sagging jowls

By the mid to late 30s, one begins to see the pull of gravity on the soft tissue of the cheeks. This sagging tissue falls inward, creating the nasolabial fold, jowls and ‘turkey neck’.

The best way to deal with this is a full facelift, which will pull the skin back to create a more youthful, beautiful appearance.

Small or misshapen breasts

Over the course of my career, I have performed thousands of breast augmentation surgeries, and am famed for my ability to produce natural-looking results that complement a woman’s existing body shape, with minimal scarring.

Wrinkled, crêpey decollete

This area is notoriously hard to treat, however I use an innovative new technique, Bel-Escote, which combines micro-injections of hyaluronic acid with the use of a silicone pad to leave you with a smooth, wrinkle-free decollete.

Overly large, sagging breasts

Large breasts can cause women to have back ache, neck ache and other physical pain, as well as causing difficulty with finding clothing to fit. In extreme cases, breast reduction surgery may be considered a reconstructive procedure and covered by insurance plans.

As well as making breasts smaller, breast reduction surgery can also lift them to a more youthful position.

Excess fat

Liposuction is a surgical technique used to eliminate fat deposits from certain areas of the body, including the cheeks, neck, arms, breasts, abdomen, rump, hips, thighs, knees and ankles. Liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss, but a method to use when fat does not respond to diet or exercise.

Protruding stomach

Abdominoplasty involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen. In addition, weakened muscles of the abdominal wall are often tightened.

A mini-abdominoplasty can be performed on patients with only localised fullness of the lower abdomen, typically resulting in decreased scarring and shorter surgery and recovery times.
