Cosmetic Surgery & Aesthetics Guide interviews Esther Fieldgrass, beauty pioneer and founder of EF MEDISPA, a one-stop-shop for cosmetic surgery and non-invasive treatments
What inspired you to get involved in the aesthetics industry?
Cosmetic surgery has fascinated me since I was in my teens. As the years progressed, I have always wanted to stay looking young and healthy, so I researched the best rejuvenation treatments to maintain good health and a beautiful complexion.
It was a natural progression to develop my business interests from beauty and fashion towards the aesthetics industry by establishing EF MEDISPA, which incorporates non-invasive antiageing aesthetic procedures with cosmetic surgery and dentistry. Everyone wants radiant skin and a stunning smile.
How did you get where you are today?
As I have a background in healing and alternative medicine, it was a dream of mine to integrate the holistic approach with cosmetic procedures. I will use the latest technology, and spend much of my time researching new equipment to stay ahead of the market. However, I often find that the tried and tested practices still have a place in modern therapies, so we blend the best of the traditional with new procedures.
I believe that this has led to EF MEDISPA’s success; offering natural remedies, such as homeopathy and reiki, whilst staying at the forefront in promoting cutting edge techniques in anti-ageing treatments, cosmetic surgery and preventative medicine.
What makes a good cosmetic practice in your eyes?
The most important factor is overall patient care. That is why EF MEDISPA is open seven days a week, so that patients always have access to our experienced and caring medical team. Although there are several clinics that provide a good general standard of surgery, our all week opening and our highly qualified team of aesthetic therapists and nurses means that we provide an unrivalled aftercare service.
Another factor to look for is well trained staff. At EF MEDISPA, we take training very seriously, using a programme of continuous professional development for our team of doctors, nurses and aestheticians.
What’s the typical consultation process in your clinic?
We always start by offering a complimentary consultation with one of our clinic co-ordinators. They can advise on the whole range of treatments offered at EF MEDISPA. After taking a full medical history, the clinic coordinator will review the client’s wish list, and then recommend a treatment programme that will meet their realistic expectations.
Most importantly, the consultation will cover both non-invasive and invasive options. The client then has the opportunity of reviewing the recommendation with the surgeon, dentist, or aesthetician, depending upon the chosen treatment. Clients like this process because the initial consultation allows them to understand the full scope of options available in an informal session, without any obligation or pressure.
You offer a wide range of treatments; what do you consider the standout product or treatment in recent years?
Our business increased dramatically when we started to offer twilight surgery. Most of our clients who elect for a surgical solution would prefer not to have a general anaesthetic and wish to avoid an overnight hospital stay.
Whether it is liposuction or breast augmentation, our clients are offered the option of a walk-in, walk-out, same day procedure, under a local anaesthetic with an anaesthetist supervising conscious sedation.
Twilight surgery is becoming more and more popular, and all our surgeons are comfortable with providing this alternative. Our signature treatment is VASER Hi-def, as we are one of only a few clinics in the UK to offer this more advanced form of body sculpting.
What do you consider your unique selling point; why should people come to you?
EF MEDISPA is a ‘one-stop-shop’. We offer cosmetic surgery, cosmetic dentistry, colonic hydrotherapy, preventative medicine and a comprehensive range of non-invasive skin and body treatments all under one roof.
As I am continually researching new techniques and equipment from all over the world, we also pride ourselves on being the first to offer treatments before they are generally available in the UK.
What do you see as the future of aesthetics?
We will see more minimally invasive procedures with surgeons using plasma-rich stem cells to achieve more youthful and firmer skin, rather than the traditional cut and stitch facelift. This will allow the next generation to start their maintenance programme much earlier in their life, deferring the ageing process.
Stem cells are the future. Even today people are storing their children’s stem cells from the umbilical cord for later life. EF MEDISPA is already performing ground-breaking treatments using the latest stem cell technology.
