Treatment: Facial rejuvenation with Genuine Dermaroller and Bocouture

Name: Cohl Warren Howles

Age: 52

Occupation: Business Development Manager

What prompted you to have the treatment?

Once we’d dealt with my ageing hands – and the results from my Radiesse treatment just keep getting better! – Dr Bentley felt it was time to turn his attention to my face.

He suggested we commence with a Dermaroller treatment to boost collagen and get my skin in good condition, before dealing with specific lines.

How was the Dermaroller experience?

The Dermaroller treatment commenced on my forehead. It was a strange feeling but perfectly tolerable, although around my mouth it was a little more painful. The whole process took no more than 25 minutes.

Directly afterwards, Dr Bentley presented me with a mirror to see my slightly reddened face – nowhere near as bad as I expected. Chiroxy cream was then gently massaged into my skin to cool the surface down. I was told to continue applying the cream during the course of the day.

How about the Bocouture?

I have a bad habit of hypercontraction, so I have quite a few frown lines. I was excited to finally get rid of them, but I have to confess I was a bit nervous too.

Dr Bentley advised that he was going to be using Bocouture, which gained approval for cosmetic use in the UK in July 2010 and is used primarily to treat glabellar (frown) lines.

I am not a great fan of needles but Dr Bentley said it would be quick, and the needles he was going to use were so thin, that I would barely feel a thing. He asked me to frown hard, marked my frown lines with a white pencil and injected my forehead five times.

He was right, there really was no pain at all and it was over in minutes. After treatment, I was instructed to frown continuously for at least 30 minutes, as this helps the Bocouture bind to the nerve endings. I was also advised not to rub the area as it could disperse the product.

Are you happy with the treatments?

Dr Bentley did say it could sometimes take up to two weeks before the full effect of the Bocouture could be seen, however by the evening of the treatment day I was completely fascinated to see that I really couldn’t frown at all!

There is movement in my forehead, just not in my frown lines, so it looks natural – it’s amazing!

Two months after the Dermaroller treatment, I can really see the difference it has made. My make-up goes on more smoothly and evenly and I have had lots of compliments on the luminosity of my skin and people asking if I’ve been away on holiday!

Considering it is such a non-invasive treatment, I am amazed by the effect it has had.
