Top advice before embarking on any aesthetic procedure is to talk to those who have undergone it already. Here we bring together three patients, of different ages and with different concerns, to talk about their experiences with the Oralift

What prompted you to have the treatment?

I work with Dr Mohindra and day in, day out I was seeing the benefits of the Oralift. I was keen to experience it myself so I could talk knowledgably to our patients.

Oralift works to retrain the muscles in the face so one of its benefits is that it can help with teeth grinding/clenching and the associated side effect of migraines. I had suffered from this since childhood and was keen to find a solution.

I wasn’t worried about the ageing process as such but I felt that the teeth grinding/clenching had changed the shape of my face and also caused me to look older than my peers.

Who carried out the procedure and what was their opinion at the consultation?

Dr Mohindra’s opinion was that the Oralift would cause the muscles of my face to lift up and increase my lower facial height, which would help with the migraines.

How was the experience?

The initial fitting was a little warm as the appliance has to be heated to fit in the mouth but it’s not uncomfortable. It took me a little longer than usual to get used to wearing it, but even so I still found it had a positive benefit.

What were the immediate results?

The immediate result was to change the shape of my face. Also I’ve always had a marked asymmetry between my eyes because I clench my jaw more on the left hand side. The Oralift has helped balance and open them up so they seem larger.

I’ve been using the Oralift for a year now and what’s great about it is that over time you can learn to listen to your body and use the Oralift when it is needed.

Are you happy with the treatment?

For me the most positive benefit is the lessening of the teeth clenching/grinding. For all my adult life I have had about three migraines a week.

However, since using the Oralift, I have had just four headaches in the last year. It’s just a nice side effect that I look better as well.

What prompted you to have the treatment?

I had read an article which prompted me to visit Dr Mohindra. Botox and fillers are a temporary fix, whereas what intrigued me about the Oralift is that it’s natural and the results last for a lifetime.

I had lots of enlarged pores around my nose and I had also started to see the signs of ageing with general fine lines.

Who carried out the procedure and what was their opinion at the consultation?

I visited Dr Mohindra and he examined my teeth and thought I would be suitable for the treatment. He showed me the before and after photographs and discussed the potential results I would see and I signed there and then.

How was the experience?

Dr Mohindra fitted the appliance and then I took it home to begin the treatment. You insert the appliance and the idea is that you sit there for an hour and just relax and don’t let your back teeth touch but keep your mouth closed.

It feels strange at first because you’re using muscles that you don’t tend to ever exercise, but after the first few times it feels fine. I haven’t found it a problem to use the Oralift. I wear it in the evening when I’m watching television or reading a book.

What were the immediate results?

For the first four months of the treatment I scrutinised my face in the mirror every day and I could see that the pores round my nose looked noticeably smaller, but it was when I went for my follow-up appointment and compared my before and after photographs that I could really see the difference.

Compared to four months previously my cheeks looked fuller, my face looked more defined and there was a general look of healthiness.

Are you happy with the treatment?

I’m very happy with the treatment. What I love about the Oralift is that we can exercise our bodies down the gym but with this treatment we can give our face a workout.

What prompted you to have the treatment?

I had always been very happy with my looks but once I hit forty I started to notice the little creases and grew increasingly unhappy. It wasn’t one particular thing but I looked tired all the time and I wanted a general refresh.

The one thing I didn’t want was surgery so I looked for alternative treatments. That’s when I came across Oralift.

I visited Dr Nick Mohindra who talked me through the treatment and showed me before and after photographs, but to be honest I’d already made up my mind to try it from what I’d read.

How was the experience?

It’s so convenient and easy to use that it just slips into your daily routine. It is permanently in my bathroom in its case so I just put it in for an hour when I’m getting ready.

What were the immediate results?

My lips have become fuller, my face has tightened and my eyes look brighter and more open. What’s great is that it has tackled the whole face so I just look refreshed overall.

I have been using it for five years and now I can just look in the mirror and know when I need to recharge again. If you haven’t used it for a while then you can instantly feel the muscles start to work and see a difference in your skin.

Are you happy with the treatment?

Money-wise this has been a really good investment because of its long-term results. I do feel that I’m ageing better than many of my friends and people often comment on how well I’m looking.

It’s had lots of extra benefits as well. I’ve always suffered from open pores and it has helped close them up. I didn’t expect it to tackle that problem so I’m absolutely thrilled.

Oralift is my little secret because you don’t want people to know what you’re doing but I would definitely recommend it to friends who are worried about how they’re ageing.
