More and more men are discovering the dangerous reality of hair replacement systems and transplants, despite them being the most publicised options for hair loss. Many have left clinics with poorly finished treatments and noticeable scarring, lowering their self esteem even further than before the original procedure. So what are the solutions?

Hair transplants seem a reliable solution for men suffering from hair loss as the treatment was first used as far back as the early 1930s in Japan, and is seemingly a professional medical practice.

This treatment takes grafts containing hair follicles genetically resistant to balding and transplants them in to the bald scalp. The most horrific stories of hair transplants gone wrong, such as wounds being stapled rather than sewn together, seem to have diminished.

However, as many men are discovering, hair transplants that use the strip harvesting technique can leave noticeable scarring at the back of the head, leaving the patient self conscious and extremely unhappy with the results.

Most astonishingly, patients are often not given details of this reality before the treatment and are left with what they believe to be a permanent disfigurement and a hefty bill, with transplants costing up to £14,000.

A solution to scarring

MHT®, Micro Hair Technique has been developed by HIS Hair Clinic's Ian Watson and Ranbir Rai-Watson and allows men who have receding hair or who are completely bald to sport a buzz cut hairstyle.

A large proportion of their clientele are men who want to have treatment to cover their scarring from hair transplants. Dr William Rassman, a world leader in hair restoration and hair transplant technology founded The New Hair Institute in Los Angeles in 1991; he is currently working with HIS Hair Clinic to offer the genuine MHT® experience direct to clients in the US, and has become a huge advocate of the technique.

Before and after MHT for scarring

Dr Rassman agrees that there is an increase in men who are looking for corrective procedures: “When MHT® is offered to patients who have had significant scarring as a result of hair transplants, the ability to camouflage the scars has been very impressive.

“One of our patients ran out of donor hair for more transplants as his hair loss progressed to a class seven pattern. He elected to have his head shaved and undergo MHT® throughout the entire scalp and loved the freedom it offered him.”

MHT® involves no surgery, no scarring, no hair pieces and no downtime after the procedure. HIS Hair Clinic can customise the pigment to suit the individual’s scalp and overall appearance.

The technique, which is solely available at HIS Hair Clinic, allows men to sport a designer hair line unique to them and an on trend, stylish, cutting edge hairstyle that allows them to ooze confidence.
