What is it?

gloRedness relief powder from glominerals is a loose powder, which promises to neutralise surface redness and soothe skin with ingredients including honeysuckle, zinc oxide, licorice and caffeine.

Having been prone to pink cheeks for as long as I can remember, I am well aware that as the years pass biting winter winds tend to turn me more ruddy than rosy, so you can imagine my delight when I was offered the opportunity to test out this little number.

The literature claims that gloRedness relief will visibly reduce even the most vivid surface redness on the spot, calming anything from a coldinduced blush to rosacea or post-procedure inflammation. You can apply it alone, under or over foundation, sweeping a light dusting of the powder on any areas of redness.

What really happens?

My initial quest was to put this powder to the test post treatment. I had – somewhat foolishly – booked myself in for a microdermabrasion session right at the beginning of a busy day of meetings and was keen not to frighten any PRs with my fluorescent face.

Wanting to make the most of a rare day in London, I hadn’t left myself much time in between the treatment ending and my first meeting, so I dashed straight into the nearest bathroom to apply the gloRedness Relief.

To my immense relief, the product absolutely lived up to the hype. I followed instructions to dab the brush in the powder, tapped it to remove any excess and swept it across my cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. Within seconds my complexion had turned from a fairly terrifying puce to something more approaching porcelain, and with a covering of my trusty glopressed base on top you would never have guessed I had just come out of a treatment room.

I spent the day running around London in the freezing cold and it really wasn’t until I was on the train home that I felt the need to reapply. In fact, I was so impressed with its efficacy post-procedure that gloRedness relief has now become a staple in my make-up bag. With temperatures dipping well below freezing of late, I have been battling the blush all winter and to have found a product that has an immediate effect is just brilliant.

Every morning, I dust on a fine layer of gloRedness relief before applying my make-up as usual and I’m good to go – safe in the knowledge that I’ll be as freshfaced on arrival at the office as I am when I leave the house.

Worst bit

There really isn’t one – what could be bad about a product that does exactly what it says on the tin? I suppose the fact that it’s a loose powder means it could make a bit of a mess if you’re not careful, but so long as you make sure to tap any excess off the brush back into the pot before applying – and make sure you’ve screwed the lid on properly before you put it in your make-up bag! – there shouldn’t be a problem.

Best bit

The unique mix of ingredients such as honeysuckle, zinc oxide and caffeine, soothes my skin so it’s not just covering up the redness, it’s helping to deal with the problem at the same time.

Did it work?

Absolutely. After three weeks, I have definitely noticed a reduction in the high colour I usually suffer from on my cheeks and chin, even before I apply my make-up.

I’ve long been a fan of the glominerals range and like all their products, gloRedness relief contains nutrients like green tea and vitamins A, C and E to keep your skin clear and glowing. All of this means that while the redness in my skin is being reduced, I’m not left looking pasty and tired – which is a problem I’ve had with other products I’ve tried – but ivoryskinned and radiant. gloRedness relief is a winner all round!
