These days, beauty is all about instant results. Whereas previously, women were prepared to have a bit of downtime in order to reap the benefits in the long term, in these troubled economic times no one is prepared to leave their desks for long enough to recover from an aggressive skin peel!

Fulfilling this demand for progressive, rather than aggressive, remedial skin care is of key importance to today’s aesthetic clinic. Whilst more invasive, traditional corrective treatments remain essential to our core provision, results driven skin health maintenance treatment is imperative to ensure we keep the clients coming in.

A successful skin correction and maintenance programme has to incorporate three essential principles: exfoliation, rehydration and tissue regeneration – in essence, a 3D approach.

However, this has to be in a form which is both tolerable and efficacious to the majority of skins, showing both instant and long term results, backed by clinically substantiated research.

The holy grail

The newly launched Fusion 3D treatment from Chromogenex might just be the answer to many aestheticians’ prayers. This innovative treatment combines the efficacy of diamond microdermabrasion with an ultrasound transdermal infusion of hyaluronic acid together with non aggressive cellular bio-stimulation via a low level laser diode (LLLD) to impact on both epidermal and dermal regeneration.

The Fusion 3D treatment commences with an in-depth exfoliation of the outermost layer of the epidermis, using a variety of sized and graded diamond chip heads which remove the upper epidermal layers without risk of irritation.

The abrasive action initiates a mild skin healing response which results in increased cell renewal and the replenishment of natural collagen and elastin, with minimal disruption to the outer layer of the skin.

The firm vacuum action draws away abraded cells and promotes blood flow to all skin layers. This increases oxygen and nutrient delivery by creating pressure changes in the blood vessels, dilating vessel size and increasing blood flow for a more radiant complexion.

The science part
Stage two of the Fusion 3D treatment involves the infusion into the skin of a specially formulated hyaluronic acid using ultrasound transdermal technology to impart intense skin rehydration.

Low frequency acoustic waves effectively ‘push’ the hyaluronic acid molecules into the skin by means of both thermal and cavitation processes.

The ultrasound waves cause the formation of micro-bubbles within the skin leading to a series of therapeutic shockwaves which disrupt the tight bilayer structure of the epidermis and expand the space in which the cells exist.

This reorganisation of the lipid intercellular cement allows the formation of aqueous channels between the cells through which the hyaluronic molecules can pass.

Once in the skin the bilayer structure resumes and the hyaluronic acid is trapped within the deeper layers of the skin providing intense hydration, increased skin volume and the consequent immediate smoothing of the skin texture.

The light fantastic
The final stage of the Fusion treatment sees the light-initiated polymerisation of the hyaluronic acid molecules forming them into long chain units to enhance their water retention capabilities.

A low level laser diode, which uses relatively low fluencies to affect bio-stimulation as opposed to thermal damage, is then used. The visible red and near infrared light at wavelengths of 630nm-660nm acts directly on the mitochondria, the power plants of the cell.

The result is an increase in cellular energy, enabling more rapid regeneration and repair of the skin tissue coupled with the increased permeability of the cell membrane, which allows for better nourishment and improved function within the cell.

The longer infrared waves target the fibroblast cells in the dermis, initiating the synthesis of new collagen and elastin proteins without the more aggressive wounding of the skin which can happen with traditional laser regenerative treatment.

Total rejuvenation
As combination therapies become more and more a part of effective skin health management, the Fusion 3D Face Lift offers three essential approaches to the care of the skin and the delay of the ageing process.

The skin texture and tone will be more even, the facial volume will be enhanced and contours lifted by the increased hydration. Lines and wrinkles will be instantly diminished.

With a progressive treatment programme the skin will function more effectively, the dermal and epidermal regeneration will be ongoing and a significant improvement in the health and appearance of the skin will be evident, providing you with a real solution to sustained skin care and anti-ageing treatment.

For a plumper, smoother, more radiant complexion, Fusion 3D offers both instant results and long term benefits.
