Should i go abroad for surgery!

Hi, is there has been abroad for surgery? I am thinking about going overseas but not sure if this is the right thing to do. It is about 50% less to have surgery in another country and it does seem very appealing but do you think it is wise being so far from home. can anyone give me some direction on this.

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

It is a thought that had crossed my mind as well!! so tempting to book a few treatments for the same cost or less than one in the UK! I think that if you reserch well then it should be ok. had you heard of anyone thats good? I dont even know what country to look at there is sooooooooo many. Although i am considering somewhere as close to home as possible for the travelling aspect. Have you had surgery before as l have never brought myself to the stage of booking, little bit scardy cat as l have never had an anesthetic!!

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

i dont know really. i have just had a look on the web and got some prices! there are alot of places to choose from and they all make it sound so appealing. the tought of surgery for the perfect body and a few weeks in the sun sounds amazing. I have had surgery before and i was really pleased with the results and would go back to the same surgeon but it all comes down to money!

Do you think you would get to spend much time in the sun whilst in recovery, or do you think this could create sun damage to the scars? What surgery have you had before?

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

Hi,

I think this is a really interesting topic and would love to hear from anyone who has gone abroad or is thinking about it

I don't know if it is somehting I would ever consider, especially when with little research you can find loads of sugery abroad 'horror stories' where things have gone wrong and people get in real toruble. However, there are also loads of people who have great success going abroad and come back a changed person. And with the cost difference, these people love their experience even more!!

Having said all that, everything you read stresses how important it is to research the place and clinic properly before committing to anything, so there must be some good places out there!

Has anyone gone abroad for surgery, how did you find the experience?

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

I have botox every six months or so, and for some time have thought about having my boobs done because of the great expereince i have had
Jetting abroad and having surgery for half the price it costs here, followed by a week or two relaxing by the pool or on the beach seems like a fanatstic idea
do you have to be careful in the sun? would coming back with a nice tan too affect the scars disappearing?

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

I saved thousands going abroad for surgery a few years ago, was a bit of a worry beause of the different culture and language, going for major surgery in a foreign country is really scary

but i had a great experience and everything was done in such a professional manner - i dont think i was alone for a minute directly after the op
plus of course the massive improvement over the last few years means its probably just as good as doing it here

you do have to be careful exposing the scars to sun but i came back and all my friends commented on how good i looked with, finally!, a good sized bust and nice tan!

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

Do the staff and surgeons in the clinics speak English? I think this would be really important to me, if they didn't and you had problems it would be really worrying not being able to tell people how you feel

How much do you research this yourself? Or do you just book in with an agency or something? How does it all work?

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

That would be a massive worry for me too, i would def want english speaking staff.

There are companies that offer 'cosmetic surgery holidays' and they can usually tell you all about the surgeons and clinic - if they cant find another one to go with!!!
Maybe you could contact clinics direct but i think although a company works out more (obviously) i alo think they really look after and pamper you, plus its probably a safer option to do it through a company that have a good rep with the clinic and have done it hundreds of times before

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

I went to a clinic abroad for a boob job - saved me thousands and i was soooooo pleased with my new size and shape!!

My clinic had some english speaking staff - they were always with you, and although spoke different language to other staff, i was never 'left out of the loop' and they always asked how i was feeling and what i wanted. I found this really reassuring and a real comfort so far from home

was a great experiecnce i would recommend it to anyone!! xx

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

Hi, thanks for your suggestions

I've researched cosmetic surgery holiday companies and there does seem to be loads, and you can go anywhere in the world! Are certain places better at certain procedures, or specialist at certain things? Like if I wanted liposuction is Spain really good for that? Or is it Argentina? Does where you go for your surgery affect the quality of procedure you will get.

It's nice to hear that English speaking staff stay with you all the time, that would be really reassuring

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

Although it's generally cheaper, there are a lot of other things to consider such as the aftercare and what happens if there are complications like capsular contracture, extrusion, seroma, haematoma.

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

I’ve  done it twice already.
Saved a ton of cash and had great time recovering in a beach villa.
Best idea is to use a “facilitator” to do all the research for you and to take care of all arrangements.
There are a ton of those.
I used a company from Miami, FL; Worldwide Medical Partners (www.wmpmedical.com)
You deal directly with a Doctor who guides you through the whole process.
My results are awesome, I’m very happy and going back this time with my girlfriend.
We’ll do a week of diving first and then her surgery and recovery.

Re: Should i go abroad for surgery!

If you are getting a huge discount on a surgery, then it is good you go abroad for a surgery. Confirm the specialist whom you would like to do the surgery and try getting review on that surgeon. If you are from the United States it would be much cheaper if you do a surgery in asian coutries. The price of travel, surgery and even a hotel and vacation are less than a similar procedure in the states.
