Hi, I'm looking for some advice - my 24 year old son has always been unhappy with his body, especially his chest and stomach, as he cannot seem to build any muscle there and just goes from chubby to weedy. He recently told me that he's booked a consultation for a Vaser High Def procedure... I have tried to do a bit of research on it and can't find anything too negative, but wondered if anyone has tried it or knows someone who has who can offer some reassurance that it is totally safe? I want him to be happy but don't want him to risk his health for his looks.

Hi, not being able to build muscle will almost certainly be down to diet, exercise and lifestyle. Lipo will just be a short/medium term fix and his body will return to how it is now over time.
Diet - if he wants to build muscle, then he will need to take around 1.5g of protein per 1lb bodyweight. So if he is 200lb, he will need around 300g of protein per day. This is the equivalent of 1.5Kg chicken!! So his diet will need to be supplemented with protein powder. Take several times per day in between meals. Eat quality carbs (veg, oats) etc and avoid sugary foods and sat. fat foods. Drink lots of water.
Exercise - increases testosterone production which will increase muscle tone and reduce fat.
Lifestlye - drinking causes oestrogen production which will cause fat to build up.

Thanks, I'll pass that on - don't know if I'll be able to convince him, but I'd like to be sure that he'd tried everything possible before resorting to surgery, or whatever this procedure is. I've been worried that it wouldn't last too, and it's such a lot of money.
Are there any supplements he could take, to help speed the process up, do you think? Can you get hormone supplements for men???
