In spite of the current turbulence being seen in the world's economies, demand for cosmetic surgery in the United States looks set to soar by almost ten per cent over the next few years, it has been claimed.
According to new predictions put forward by the Freedonia Group, advances made in the field, combined with an increasingly aged population, will help push demand for all types of procedures up by 8.4 per cent by 2012.
Furthermore, the Ohio-based research group believe that breast augmentation is likely to see major growth, thanks largely to a new generation of procedures.
"So-called fifth generation silicone implants will also increase, as this type is less likely to leak or rupture in the body due to its cohesive consistency," it noted.
These predictions come soon after the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that demand for cosmetic surgery remains high as growing numbers of men and women are opting to have work done to stay ahead in a competitive jobs market and to boost their self-confidence during a time of economic uncertainty.
