As people become increasingly knowledgeable about cosmetic surgery, they are turning to specialists and requesting more specific procedures, new figures suggest.
Research carried out by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) found that some 85 per cent of American adults would consider undergoing some sort of cosmetic procedure.
What's more 80 per cent of those questioned said that they would turn to a specialist facial surgeon for the work rather than a standard plastic surgeon.
The research also found that the most popular surgical procedure among US adults remains eye lifts, with around one in four thinking of having this work at some point in the future.
Procedures such as tightening the skin around the neck, rhinoplasty and face lifts were also all found to be among the most sought-after, indicating that people are now taking greater interest in their appearances and starting to fight back against the visible signs of ageing.
