There has been a significant rise in the number of over-60s turning to cosmetic surgery in a bid to defy the effects of ageing, a UK group of clinics has revealed.
According to Transform Cosmetic Surgery, a fifth of its clients who undergo botox are over 60, up from just eight per cent last year, the Daily Mail reports.
Meanwhile, breast enlargement procedures have risen by 31 per cent in over-60s, and facelift demand has increased by 35 per cent.
Spokeswoman Shami Thomas revealed: "These women may have their bus pass, but they haven't lost the desire to look good.
"They have higher disposable incomes and are motivated by high-profile role models such as Joan Collins, 75, and Helen Mirren, 63. We are calling this the 'Joan Collins effect'," she added.
Transform also recently reported a rise in the number of men seeking cosmetic surgery.
Ms Thomas told Crain's Manchester Business that males accounted for one fifth of the company's botox business last year.
