Breast
enlargement is the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery in the UK, with
celebrity icons like Katie Price (AKA Jordan) leading the way with their
cosmetically enhanced curvaceous figures. However, recent photographs taken of
stars like Cheryl Cole, Gwen Stefani and Gwyneth Paltrow suggest the trend for
the inflated bosom look may be on its way out. Each of these stars appeared sporting
deep plunging necklines that revealed a cleavage that was flattened out into
near non-existence as opposed to the bulging bosoms we are used to seeing on the
red carpet.
If we look at the celebrities fore-fronting this new anti-cleavage trend, it seems that they may be trying to distance themselves from the somewhat tacky displays of flesh that are used by C-list celebrities to get themselves noticed by the media. Even ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, who is speculated to have had breast augmentation performed in the past, has visibly reduced the size of her breasts, possibly in a bid to be taken more seriously in her new career as a fashion designer. Indeed, it does seem logical that serious, A-list career women like Cheryl Cole and Victoria Beckham would want to distance themselves from the big-boobed, fake tanned look of stars from The Only Way Is Essex, for example.
Does this mean that we can expect to see a fall in the number of women undergoing breast enlargement procedures as this new trend takes hold? Watch this space....
