Cosmetic surgery solves unsightly veins

I had been spending hundreds of pounds a year on cosmetics to cover up unsightly veins around my nose before I considered cosmetic surgery for the first time.

I first developed the condition when I was in my mid-twenties. It started as small red thread veins around my nose but, before long, they had developed so much to the extent where I had to cover them up with concealer.

By the time I was 29, my whole nose was red and I was forced to repeatedly reapply concealer, sometimes up to 10 times a day. I felt so self conscious and refused to leave the house or see anyone without covering up this problem.

My first thought when I considered a more radical solution was to research on the internet and find something that could help. I bought a cream online which promised to reduce the appearance of thread veins but, despite several months of trying, I saw no result from it and felt I had wasted my time. I looked into electrolysis but was warned this could be a lengthy process and could cause skin blistering, which really put me off, so I decided against this.

A friend who had been experiencing similar skin complaints recommended Dr Newman's Clinic and following a consultation with consultant surgeon Dr Brian Newman, I arranged to have a treatment with his clinic in Manchester. We decided that the best treatment for me would be a procedure called thermocoagulation. This was a new technique that used microwave technology to penetrate the skin. It was so quick and easy, I arranged to have it done in a lunch hour!

The treatment was virtually pain-free and I saw the difference immediately. My friends and family commented on my great new nose and new-found confidence. I was happy to bare my face without make-up, something I hadn't done for as long as I could remember, on a holiday just two weeks after treatment.

My job sees me out on the road, meeting clients and hosting one-to-one meetings as well as large presentations. I am now confident to face these challenges head-on, confident in my appearance and that listeners are paying attention to what I'm saying and not my nose!
