Natural facelift really lifted my spirits
After I lost five stone in four months, I was delighted with my new, svelte body and thrilled with the weight loss that made me feel 21 again! But the weight loss left my face with excess, sagging skin which made me feel 91, not 21.
I looked in the mirror and just didn't see myself. Instead, the person looking back had a collapsed, wrinkly face with loss of support and fullness. I decided to have a face lift, but it was so important to me that the result looked as natural as possible. I didn't want the Joan Rivers, caught-in-a-wind-tunnel look, so I did lots of research and set about finding a surgeon I felt I could trust to give me the right result.
I decided to have my surgery with Mr Nicholas Parkhouse from the McIndoe Surgical Centre. Mr Parkhouse held free open evenings to help potential patients get a feel for what would be involved, and took a real interest in my personal story and needs.
After the operation, there were clips around my hairline, behind my ears and under my ear lobes and it was a little uncomfortable. But there wasn't much bruising and within a few days I was back home.
I made no secret of what I had had done and went back to work a week later. Within seven weeks my face and neck had settled down and I couldn't stop looking in the mirror! The result was so natural and just what I wanted, I even gave Mr Parkhouse a cake with my new face on it to say thanks!
