Cosmetic Surgery Today: Everything You Wanted To Know About Cosmetic Surgery

Abdominoplasty

A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty is a procedure that removes excess fat and skin from the waist to leave a flatter lower body profile. It can also reduce the appearance of stretch marks on your lower abdomen. The operation can remove folds of skin left behind after losing a lot of weight and tighten stretched skin and muscles after pregnancy in women who are not planning any more children.

The ideal candidates for tummy tuck surgery are patients who are in relatively good physical shape, but that have excess skin or fat in the abdominal area which is resistant to dieting and exercise. This excess skin or fat can be caused by pregnancy, rapid weight loss and yo-yo dieting. The normal ageing process can also cause skin to sag or lose elasticity.

A tummy tuck procedure can be combined with liposuction to the waist area to enhance the results of the surgical procedure.

This is a major surgical procedure which usually requires three to four weeks of recovery. It is also relatively costly so it is important to do your research before deciding to embark on this procedure.
