Body Sculpting - Energy Assisted

What is Body Sculpting?
If you've got stubborn pockets of fat that you're desperate to get rid of, but you can't bear the idea of going under the knife, then energy-assisted body sculpting might be for you.

There are a number of machines on the market, which use different sorts of energy - laser, ultrasound and radiofrequency are the most popular - to break down fat without actually breaking through your skin.

Because of the energy used, body sculpting systems often tighten the skin at the same time as breaking down fat, leaving you with a firmer, smoother silhouette.

Who is suitable for Body Sculpting?
If you're seriously overweight or obese, then this isn't the treatment for you. There is no suction involved in these treatments, so rather than the fat being removed by the practitioner there and then, they tend to rely on your body's natural drainage mechanism to get rid of the broken down fat cells.

The ideal candidate for energy assisted body sculpting is generally slim but with small, stubborn areas of fat that won't go away with diet and exercise.

What's a gBody Sculpting treatment like?
Not all systems work in the same way, so you would need to speak to your practitioner to find out the exact procedure they use.

Generally, however, the practitioner will run the machine's handpiece slowly and repeatedly over the area that you wish to be treated. There isn't usually any pain associated with these procedures, so no anaesthetic is used, although you may feel a slight warmth or tingling sensation.

The energy emitted from the handpiece is set to a level that ensures it is delivered directly to the fat cells beneath the skin, without causing any damage to the skin itself.

The fat cells are destroyed by this energy and are transported to the liver, where they are processed and removed through the normal drainage process.

For cellulite treatment, mechanical massage may be added to aid the lymphatic drainage process.

What happens after Body Sculpting?
Because these systems rely on your body's natural processes to actually expel the fat, you may be required to follow a special diet for a couple of weeks after the treatment, and you will certainly be expected to do some exercise, as this will help to speed up the expulsion of the destroyed fat cells.

A course of treatments is usually recommended to get the best results, and you can usually expect to see the benefit within about six weeks.

Will I have a scar after Body Sculpting?
Because this is a totally non-invasive procedure, there is no risk of scarring.
