Many women have asymmetry (difference) between the breasts to some extent, whether it be seen in the size of the breast, the shape or the position of the nipple on the breast itself. However, in some women the difference between the breasts can be more obvious, leading to perhaps physical imbalance or body confidence issues.
The goal of corrective breast surgery is to create two breasts that match as closely as possible in both size and shape, which can be achieved by surgery on either one or both breasts. Corrective breast surgery may include re-positioning of the nipple, augmentation or lift of breasts.
Because each case of breast asymmetry is unique to the patient, treatment must be developed to meet the individual needs of the patient. Because of the unique nature of this surgery, recovery times may also vary.
