Dental Implants
Dental implants are used to replace one or more missing teeth; they are a sturdy and long-lasting solution to the replacement of missing teeth.
A dental implant is an artificial replacement for the root of your natural tooth and is anchored into a pre-drilled socket in your jawbone to support a crown, bridge or secure a denture firmly in place.
Implants are made from titanium, a material that is well tolerated by bone and integrates easily with bone tissue. Once the implant has been inserted into the jawbone it is left between six weeks and six months to integrate. During that time the patient wears temporary teeth or dentures and then once the healing period has ended a permanent crown can be fitted to the implant.
